Method for producing an image by exposing a two layer element to electromagnetic radiation. The first layer is metallic and may be silver, nickel, copper, iron, columbium, lead, aluminium, zinc, chromium, or mixtures of these. The second layer consists of at least one of the following : halogen, sulphur, arsenic, selenium, tellurium or thallium. The element is capable of reacting at the interface with the metal so that in the exposed areas the second layer becomes separated from the first. Metal halides, sulphides, arsenides, selenides, tellurides may be used pref. arsenic tri- or penta-sulphide. The exposed areas may be removed by physical, mechanical or chemical means. Used for making lithographic plates, printed electrical circuits, resistances or condensers. |
