titleOfInvention | Process for the production of rubber articles |
abstract | The adhesion of rubber to textiles (esp. polyamide fibres) and metal (esp. steel cord) is improved by vulcanising a rubber mixture (or a soln. of this) contng. 15-70 (pref. 25-50) wt. % of finely-dispersed silicic acid as filler (I) and in the pres. of 0.1-10% (pref. 1-5%) of a polyisocyanate-releasing agent (II). The silicic acid (I) pref. has a surface area of 70-400 m2/g. (pref. 80-200 m2/g.) and a particle size of 0.007-0.04 mu (pref. 0.013-0.035 mu). The agent (II) may be the adduct of diphenylmethane-4,4'-diisocyanate, triphenylmethane-4,4',4"-triisocyanate or monothiophosphoric acid tris(p-isocyanatophenyl) ester and acetylacetic ester. The (II) is pref. added in aqs. medium, made by ball milling a 10-50% (pref. 20-30%) soln. of the (II) in a solvent, adding a smaller amt. of a non-solvent for the (II) but which is miscible with the first solvent, and mixing the resulting soln. with an equal amot. of a 3% aqs. soln. of a non-ionic emulsifying agent. The resulting emulsion can be added to natural or synthetic rubber latices. Suitable rubbers are butadiene-styrene, butadiene-acrylonitrile, ethylene-propylene, etc. Conveyor belts, driving belts, etc. |
