abstract Highly crimped bicomponent threads or fibres are produced by (a) simultaneously spinning two different thermoplastic fibre-forming polymers (I) and (II) through the same spinning head opening, (b) drawing the pdt., and (c) opt. fixing the threads. Component (I) consists of a polyester, a polyamide, a polyesteramide, or a mechanical mixt. of a polyester and 5-20% wt. of a polyamide; and component (II) consists of a polyesteramide or of a mechanical mixt. of a polyester and a polyamide, which contains 5-20% wt. of the structural units present in component (I). The process gives highly crimped bicomponent threads/fibres having a wool-like character. The two components are firmly attached with little or no tendency for the components to separate.
