The saline soln. and prepared soln. are placed in contact with opposite sides of a semi-permeable osmotic membrane for a sufficient time for some water to pass by osmosis from the saline soln. to the prepared soln. and a portion of the prepared soln. contg. the osmotically transported water is withdrawn and treated to separate the latter from the prepared soln. |
