abstract | Colloidal water-permeable coating compns. contain at least 1 non-ionic surface-active compound of the formula:- where R is hydrogen or 1-18C alkyl, R1 is 8-18C alkyl and x is an integer from 3-31. Uniform coatings can be applied at high speed on wet or dry surfaces. The coatings are described particularly for use as silver halide photographic emulsions, but can be used also to coat paper, cellulose, and cellulose esters, to give anti-halo, antistatic and filter coatings. |
