titleOfInvention | Process for the production of bicomponent threads or fibers |
abstract | Bicomponent threads with high mechanical crimpability are produced by (a) jointly spinning two different thermoplastic fibre-forming polymers from the same spinning orifice, (b) drawing the bicomponent thread, and (c) opt. fixing the thread. Component (I) consists of a homopolyester of terephthalic acid, or a copolyester contg. at least 80 mole% ethylene glycol terephthalate units; and component (II) consists of a copolyamide contg. at least 20 mole % terephthalate units. The threads have a high crimpability, and do not tend to undergo lateral separation of the components. The threads under spontaneous crimping after drawing to form threads with a wool-like appearance. |
