abstract | Animal feeding stuff resembling canned dog food and comprising:- (1) pasteurised meat and vegetable constituents, soaked in (2) an aq. soln. of a polyol contng. at least 3 OH gps. (pref. glycerol) in amt. at least 4% (4-20%) of the compn. so as to exert a bacteriostatic effect, the water content of the compn. being 15-35% (pref. > 20%) so as to impart plasticity to it (3) an antimycotic agent (0.1-2.5%) such as benzoic acid, K sorbate, etc. Alternatively, soln. (2) may contain a sugar as major constituent (e.g. 10-25% of the compn.) and the polyol as a minor (25-100%) of the sugar). Stable, wet, plastic compn., not requiring refrigeration, which may be non-hermetically packed. |
