abstract | Internally plasticised epoxy resins are prepd. by reacting crystallised trigylcidyl isocyanurate, with an epoxy content of at least 14%, with compounds which have free terminal isocyanate groups, a relatively long chain and a molecular wt. of about 800-3000, partic. about 1000-2000, and carboxylic anhydrides. The resins have good flexibility, coupled with only a slight deterioration in thermal properties, good electrical properties and shock resistance. The liquid reaction product prepd. from the triglycidyl isocyanurate, the isocyanate and the anhydride can be stored for long periods at room temp.; or this reaction product can be hardened and comminuted. The resins can be used for impregnating fibrous materials, as coating compositions, partic. for metals, as casting resins or as adhesives. |
