titleOfInvention Means for the painless killing of animals
abstract Method of mixing a lethal amount of benzyl trimethyl ammonium chloride with a pharmacological carrier to make injectable units for the humane killing of animals. The carrier is inert to benzyl trimethyl ammonium chloride and produces no undesirable side effects in the animal. The carriers can be solvents for benzyl trimethyl ammonium chloride, such as lower alcohols, e.g. ethanol and butanol, but water is the preferred carrier. Solutions in water, including approx. 40-70% by weight of benzyl trimethyl ammonium chloride are the most suitable. The benzyl trimethyl ammonium chloride is commercially available or may be prepared by any desired method. Humane animal-killer producing painless death within minutes. per kg. body weight are excessive. Intravenous injections are preferred, but the product can be given intra-muscularly, intra-peritoneally or subcutaneously.
