Basic dyes (I) are prepared by reacting dihydropyrimidones (II); or their salts, with amines (III); and when required, alkylating the product: where R = H or an optionally substituted alkyl group; R1 and R2 = alkyl, cycloalkyl, and/or aryl; R3 = H or aryl; X v an anion; and K = the residue of a diazo component of the benzene or naphthalene series. The basic dyes (I) are specially suitable for dyeing and printing acrylic fibres, and give yellow to violet shades of good fastness, and high brilliance. |
