abstract | Phenethylamines p-Cl-C6H4-CH2-C(CH3)H-NH-CH2-C(R1)H-CH2-R2 (where R1 is H and R2 is Cl or R1 is Cl and R2 is H), useful in pharmaceutical compositions for inhibiting appetite and treating fatty degeneration, are prepared by condensing p-Cl-alpha-CH3-phenethylamine with OHC-C(R1)H-CH2-R2, pref. in an anhydrous inert solvent, and simultaneously or subsequently hydrogenating the Schiff's base obtained, pref. in presence of an alkali metal borohydride. |
