titleOfInvention | Process for the preparation of new water-insoluble monoazo compounds |
abstract | Azo pigments of formula where R1 is an aryl group, R2 is a naphthalene residue in which the azo-, OH and amide groups are in positions 1, 2 and 3, and R3 is a benzoxazolone, benzthiazolone or acridone residue bonded to the NH group in the 5 or 6 positions, are prepared by (a) condensing an acid halide of the formula R1-N=N-R2 COHal with an amine of the formula R3NH2 or (b) coupling a diazo compound or diazo-amino compound of an amine with the formula R1NH2 with a coupling component of formula R2CONHR3. The reactants are free from water-solubilising groups, such as sulphonic acid or COOH groups. The pigments are used in artificial silk, viscose, cellulose estehrs and esters, polyamides, polyurethanes polyesters, lacquers, natural and synthetic resins, rubber, casein, siloxanes, crayons, cosmetics and laminates. |
