abstract | The invention comprises compounds of the formula <FORM:0910257/IV (b)/1> (wherein R1 and R2 are methyl or ethyl, Y is an oxygen atom or an imino group, R3 is a dialkylamino group and n is 2 or 3) and their preparation by reacting an ortho-disubstituted m-nitrobenzoic acid halide with an appropriate dialkylamino - alkylamine or dialkylaminoalkanol and then reducing the nitro-benzoic acid amide or ester so formed, and if desired converting the product to an acid-addition salt. Examples are given. Ortho-disubstituted meta-nitrobenzoic acid halides are prepared by diazotising an appropriate ortho-disubstituted m-nitro-aniline and reacting with cuprous cyanide to give an orthodisubstituted-m-nitro-benzonitrile, hydrolysing this to the corresponding amide and then to the corresponding acid and reacting this with, for example, thionyl chloride. |
