abstract The invention relates to the generation of monoclonal antibodies, or fragments of same, which recognises the PB2 protein of the human influenza virus (flu), wherein the monoclonal antibodies or fragments of same comprise a variable domain of the heavy chain and a variable domain of the light chain. Also provided is a diagnostic method for detecting flu infections in biological samples of nasopharyngeal secretions, using the monoclonal antibodies in the format of a diagnostic kit.
