abstract An optically pumped magnetometer (100) for testing measurement of an ambient magnetic field. He understands : means for illuminating a cell filled with an atomic gas with a beam of pump and an alternating Stark effect beam propagating collinearly or almost collinearly in the cell, the pump beam being tuned to an atomic transition line, modulated by a first modulator (6) by means of a first modulation frequency (f m1) and linearly polarized in a rotatable direction of polarization by a polarization rotator (52), the alternating Stark effect beam being shifted from the transition line atomic, modulated by a second modulator (10) by means of a second frequency of modulation (f m2) and circularly polarized, a first servo circuit (12) acting on the rotator of polarization to maintain a constant angle (.beta.) between the direction of polarization of the beam pump and the ambient magnetic field, a second servo circuit (13) acting on the first and the second modulator to keep the first and second modulation frequencies at the Larmor frequency of the atomic gas or one of its harmonics.
