abstract The present invention relates to biomarkers for colorectal cancer. Specifically, it relates to metabolic markers as a screening, diagnostic or monitoring tool for detecting colorectal cancer (CRC) and /or advanced adenoma (AD) in a subject. In a particular embodiment, it refers to an in vitro method for the screening, diagnosis or monitoring of colorectal cancer and /or advanced adenoma in a subject, said method comprising the following steps: a) determining the levels of the metabolic marker ChoE(18:2) in a feces sample isolated from said subject; b) comparing the levels in said feces sample with a reference value; wherein an increase of ChoE(18:2) levels in the subject sample with regard to said reference value is indicative of CRCand /or AD.
