titleOfInvention Under the desk fitness device and a seat that folds underneath the tabletop
abstract An under the desk fitness device (UDFD) that depending on the features included can be a bike, a stepper or an elliptical device. For simplification, the device of this invention is referred as an Under the Desk Bike (UDB). This doesn't limit the approach of this application as when we refer to an UDB, we are also referring to a stepper or an elliptical device. This invention is an under the desk bike (UDB) that temporarily locks under the desktop, or, if permanently installed, it folds under the desk for easy storage and deployment. There are different main embodiments of our invention, one device with a crank, pedals and a seat and one with just the crank and the pedals, both can include as in a different embodiment of this invention the connectors and features to make them a Workspace Fitness Device (WFD) as described in other pages of this document. The simpler one is with the crank and pedals, where the assembly is attached to the underside of the desk's tabletop, the UDB pulls down, twists and the pedals are ready to be used. A variation of this idea is where the desk's tabletop bottom part has a cavity inside to host the folded UDB assembly so it is not uncomfortable for the user to feel those parts under the desk when the user is seated in a regular chair and not using the UDB. As previously mentioned, in a different embodiment of this invention the UDB connects wired or wirelessly to the Smart Desk Controller or directly to a remote server. In a different embodiment of this invention, when the UDB is connected by wires to the SDC the pedals generate energy, which, can be harvested to charge a battery, which, could for example power USB chargers located within the UDB assembly or in a separate enclosure, like the one in the SDC when the energy harvested from the energy transferred to the pedals is transported to the SDC via those wires. Meanwhile, another embodiment of this invention is the reverse bicycle seat that is attached to the bottom of the desktop at a sit and stand desk. It folds underneath the desktop and twists so the user can sit while the desk is in the standing position, that way, the user can be seated down and pedal. In a different embodiment of this invention, the seat that can be folded in 2 sections flat from the front. If the under the desk bike accessory is installed in the desktop which has a cavity to host the accessory, it is flushed so the user doesn't need to feel the presence of the accessory below the tabletop.
