Antimicrobial hydrochloric acid catheter lock solution and method of use |
abstract |
There is provided a method of inhibiting microbial contamination in a catheter, comprising the step of infusing a lumen of the catheter with a hydrochloric acid solution having a concentration of 0.3 Molar to 1.0 Molar, wherein the hydrochloric acid solution further comprises silver sulfadiazine. There is also provided a use of a catheter lock solution for treating a patient having a microbial contamination of an indwelling catheter, wherein a lumen of the catheter is infused with the catheter lock solution which comprises a hydrochloric acid solution having a concentration of 0.3 Molar to 1.0 Molar and silver sulfadiazine. |
