abstract The purpose of the present invention is to provide porous carbon which can adsorb water vapor satisfactorily under high humidity. Porous carbon characterized by having meso-pores and micro-pores and having a water vapor adsorption amount ratio, which is expressed by formula (1) shown below, of 1.8 or more. Particularly, it is preferred that the water vapor adsorption amount ratio, which is expressed by formula (1) shown below, is 2.0 or more. It is also preferred that the water vapor adsorption amount is 50 mg/g or more at a relative humidity of 70%. Water vapor adsorption amount ratio = [the amount of adsorbed water vapor at relative humidity of 90%]/[the amount of adsorbed water vapor at relative humidity of 70%] ยทยทยท (1)
