titleOfInvention Subcutaneous needle assisted jet injection administration of methotrexate
abstract The present application is, at least in part, directed to a composition comprising methotrexate for use in the treatment of an autoimmune disorder in a subject in need of treatment. In one exemplary embodiment, the composition comprises introducing a composition comprising methotrexate into the subcutaneous tissue of said subject from a needle assisted jet injection device, wherein the composition comprises methotrexate in a dose tanging from about 5 mg to about 50 mg, and wherein the pharmacokinetic profile of said methotrexate, obtained following administration of said methotrexate by said needle assisted jet injection device, is substantially the same as the pharmacokinetic profile of the same dose of said methotrexate when administered by an intramuscular injection or a subcutaneous injection. The present invention provides benefits and improvements, including an improved clinical utility, improved therapeutic efficacy, over conventional methods of administering methotrexate.
