abstract |
Cellulose nanofibers are produced by means of a method involving a step (A) for oxidizing a cellulose-based starting material in the presence of an N-oxyl compound and such, a step (B) for forming the oxidized cellulose-based starting material into nanofibers by fibrillating the oxidized cellulose-based starting material, and a step (C) for performing at least one of the following steps: step (C-1) for processing the cellulose-based starting material in water having a hydroxide ion concentration of 0.75 to 3.75 mol/L prior to performing step (A); and step (C-2) for subjecting the oxidized cellulose-based starting material obtained from step (A) to hydrolysis in an alkaline solution having a pH between 8 and 14 after performing step (A) and prior to performing step (B). |
