titleOfInvention | Methods of making luminescent compounds |
abstract | A high yield one-pot synthetic method of preparing cyclometalated Pt(II) .beta.-diketonates and cyclometalated Pt(II) .beta.-diketiminos that includes combining a cyclometalating ligand, a Pt monodentate complex, a strong acid, and a salt of either a .beta.-diketonate or a .beta.-diketimino. Such compounds are widely used as efficient luminescent materials. This method advantageously uses stoichiometric amounts of reactants, short reaction times and ambient temperatures. This method is applied to a broad range of substrates to form N^C, P^C and C^C cyclometalated Pt(II) complexes with various stabilizing ligands. |
