abstract |
The present invention relates to a process for the catalytic oxidation of butane or benzene to maleic anhydride or the oxidation of o-xylene, naphthalene or mixtures thereof to phthalic anhydride. The process comprises contacting a gaseous feed stream with a particulate catalyst in a tubular reactor having located therein one or more catalyst carriers. The process of the present invention is believed to address one or more of the problems of prior art arrangements, including e.g. high cost of construction of the reactors and excess carbon dioxide production. |
