abstract | Disclosed is a membrane electrode structure for a solid polymer fuel cell, which rarely undergoes the destabilization of power generation performance even when the power generation environments are altered, i.e., the humidity conditions around the electrodes are altered, and which has high initial performance and does not undergo the deterioration in performance when used for a long period. The membrane electrode structure (1) for a solid polymer fuel cell comprises a proton-conductive film (2) through which protons can be carried, electrode catalyst layers (3) which are respectively arranged on both surfaces of the proton-conductive film (2) and each of which comprises catalyst particles and an electrode electrolyte, and gas diffusion layers (4) which are respectively arranged on the electrode catalyst layers (3) and each of which comprises a porous base material, wherein an intermediate layer (5) comprising noble metal nano-particles (51), an electrode electrolyte (52) and a carbon powder and having a thickness of 2 to 6 µm is arranged between at least one of the electrode catalyst layers (3) and at least one of the gas diffusion layers (4). |
