titleOfInvention Methods for determining the degree of deposition of contaminants
abstract Disclosed is a method that is for measuring the deposition of contaminants that have a large effect on machine operability or product quality in a manufacturing step for pulp and paper, specifically measuring the degree of deposition of adhesive contaminants and pitch and the form of deposits, and is also for determining the effectiveness of a chemical that decreases deposits. In the manufacturing step for pulp and paper, a method is used that includes measuring the degree of deposition of contaminants from a liquid or slurry onto a crystal oscillator and quantifying the form of the deposits on the surface of the crystal oscillator by means of image analysis. Furthermore, using the method that quantifies the aforementioned degree of deposition and form of the deposits after adding to the aforementioned liquid or slurry a chemical that decreases deposits, the effectiveness of the aforementioned chemical can be determined.
