abstract The invention discloses a method for manufacturing a composition comprising an extract of red mold rice for treatment of Alzheimer's disease, wherein the composition comprising the extract of red mold rice, comprising, in 1 g of said composition at least 100µg of monacolins, at least 10µg of anti-inflammation agents, and at least 40µg of anti-oxidant compounds. The red mold rice is Oryza sativa L., Japonica fermented with a specific Monascus purpureus. In this invention, the method for manufacturing the composition is detailedly disclosed. The composition of the invention has no noticeable side effects caused to patients on treatment of Alzheimer's disease.
