abstract A delivery device is provided for implanting an intraocular implant while maintaining the implant in the desired position for implantation. The delivery device comprises a handle and a rodlike instrument, wherein one of the rodlike instrument or a separate part of the delivery device comprises a tip for penetrating the implant. The delivery device further comprises a retention mechanism for retaining the implant on the delivery device. The retention mechanism may be an abutment surface for abutting the implant. The abutment surface may be tilted at an angle with respect to a plane orthogonal to a longitudinal axis of the rodlike instrument, and the tip may be configured to project beyond the abutment surface.
