titleOfInvention Closed kit for tissue containment and stabilization for molecular and histopathology diagnostics
abstract A container (20) for storing a biological sample is disclosed. The container (20) includes a housing having a closed end (28), an open end (24), and a sidewall (32) extending therebetween defining a container interior (36). The container (20) has a removable closure (60) for enclosing the open end (28) of the housing and a sample holder (50) for housing a biological sample detachably connected to the closure (60) and insertable within the container interior (36). A port (76) is disposed within the closure (60) adjacent the sample holder (50) to allow fluid to pass therethrough into the container interior. An injection device (110) for engaging the port (76) may also be provided. A first fluid may be initially provided within the container interior (36) and a second fluid may be subsequently injected by the injection device (110) through the port (76) into the container interior (36).
