A cigarette wrapping paper comprising a base wrapping paper (12) and, provided with interspaces on one surface thereof, multiple burn suppression zones (14). The burn suppression zones (14) are formed by application of a polyvinyl alcohol of 900 or greater polymerization degree or a polyvinyl alcohol whose 3 wt.% aqueous solution exhibits a viscosity of 5 to 30 mPa.cndot.s as measured at 20°C. |
