abstract The object of the present invention is to provide a treatment method which deactivates deposits in a reactor and the like in a production process of an .alpha.-olefin low polymer. The present invention relates to that after completion of the production of a low polymer of ethylene in a reactor 10 in the presence of a chromium series catalyst, a hydrocarbon compound solution containing an electron donative compound such as water or alcohol is supplied to the reactor 10 and a heat exchanger 16, thereby deactivating the deposits.
