abstract | The object is to provide a composition for use in a beverage or food, which comprises a butyric acid bacterium capable of producing butyric acid and having excellent effect of improving the intestinal environment and cellooligosaccharide serving as a substrate for the butyric acid bacterium and capable of promoting the production of butyric acid, can improve the amount of butyric acid produced in the intestine, and is excellent in the function of improving the intestinal environment, the function of preventing an infectious disease and the like. Disclosed are: a composition for use in a beverage or food, which comprises a butyric acid bacterium and cellooligosaccharide and has a function of improving the intestinal environment and/or a function of preventing an infectious disease, wherein the butyric acid bacterium may be Clostridium butyricum; a feeding stuff which comprises a butyric acid bacterium and cellooligosaccharide and has a function of improving the intestinal environment and/or a function of preventing an infectious disease; and a food which comprises a butyric acid bacterium and cellooligosaccharide and has a function of improving the intestinal environment and/or a function of preventing an infectious disease. |
