Composition based on zirconium oxide and cerium oxide, with a high reproducibility and a stable specific surface area, method of preparation and use in the treatment of exhaust gases |
abstract |
The composition of the invention based on zirconium and cerium oxides has a proportion of cerium oxide of at most 50% by weight, a degree of reducibility of at least 95% after calcination in air at 600 ° C. and a specific surface after calcination for 4 hours at 1100 ° C of at least 15 m2 / g. It is prepared by forming an aqueous mixture comprising compounds of zirconium, cerium; heating this mixture to at least 100 ° C and bringing it to completion after heating to a basic pH; adding a surfactant-type additive to the precipitate from this mixture and calcining this precipitate under an inert gas or under vacuum at a temperature of at least 900 ° C and then under an oxidizing atmosphere at a temperature of at least 600 ° C. The composition can be used in the treatment of automobile exhaust. |
