abstract The present invention relates to a process for the synthesis of 4beta.-amino-4'-demethyl-4-desoxypodophyllotoxin of formula 1 characterized in that it comprises the successive steps following: a) reaction in a pure weak acid or in a mixture of acid, water and solvent organic, without other solvents, at a temperature above the temperature ambient, thiourea with 4beta.-haloacetamido-4'-demethyl-4-desoxypodophyllotoxin; and b) recovery of 4 P-amino-4'-demethyl-4-desoxypodophyllotoxin.
