abstract | The invention relates to a process for preparing 1,7.prime.-dimethyl-2.prime.-propyl-2,5.prime.-bi-1H-benzimidazole of the formula (I) by reacting N-methyl-o-phenylenediamine or salts thereof with 2-propyl-4-methyl-1H-benzimidazole-6-carboxylic acid or salts thereof in the presence of a 1,3,5-triazine and a tertiary amine, and to 1,7.prime.-dimethyl-2.prime.-propyl-2,5.prime.-bi-1H-benzimidazole prepared by this process. |
