titleOfInvention | Host-guest enery-absorbing complex |
abstract | The present invention provides an energy-absorbing EAM that is a host-guest complex formed between a molecular host and a guest that is an energy-absorbing molecule (EAM). Exemplary of EAMs of use in the invention are species that absorb energy from a photo-irradiation source and thereby contributes to desorption and ionization of analyte molecules in operative contact therewith. When the complex and analyte are components of a surface, the transfer of energy promotes both the ionization of the analyte and its desorption from the surface. Also provided are methods for using the complexes of the invention and methods of preparing surfaces and devices incorporating a complex or the invention. |
