A method of decontaminating, disinfecting or sterilizing an article which method comprises placing the article in an electrolytic system with an oxygenated electrolyte (4~) and applying a potential difference to the electrolytic system. The method is particularly suitable for the sterilization of stainless steel surgical instruments (3~) wherein the instrument comprises the cathode in the electrolytic system. |
