abstract | The present invention is directed to reverse micellar formulations for the delivery of. hydrophobic or lipophilic compounds, particularly therapeutic compounds. In a specific embodiment, the invention relates to a composition comprising a reverse micelle system, the system comprising: (a) a hydrophilic phase; (b) a hydrophobic continuous phase; and (c) one or more biologically active hydrophobic therapeutic agents, selected from the group consisting of carbamazepine, oxcarbazepine, cyclosporine, etc wherein said composition comprises less than 10% of triglyerides; all of the active agent is dissolved in the continuous phase; and both phases comprise surfactants, solubilizers or combinations thereof; and to uses thereof for the treatment of an illness or condition in a subject in need thereof. |
