The composition of the invention, according to a first embodiment, consists of essentially a cerium oxide and a zirconium oxide. According to one second embodiment, this composition is based on a cerium oxide, zirconium oxide and at least one oxide of a rare earth other than cerium. After a first calcination at 900 ~ C for 4 hours then a second calcination at 1000 ~ C for 10 hours, it shows a variation of its surface area of not more than 20% in the case of the first mode and not more than 15% in the case of the second. The composition of the invention can be used as a catalyst especially for the treatment of the exhaust gases of internal combustion engines. |
