titleOfInvention Capsular tension ring, method for making a capsular tension ring and capsular ring and intraocular lens assembly
abstract An implantable capsular ring in the equatorial region of a bag capsular after cataract removal includes an open annular body or closed and has sharp edges and an axial width of between about 0.3 and 0.6 mm, or preferably about 0.5 mm. The annular body, of the capsular ring, including the sharp edges, is made of material rigid over the majority of the circumference, and has at least one junction in flexible material between two segments of the annular body in rigid material. It is also provided with a set comprising a capsular ring and a intraocular implant of the type comprising a central optical part and a peripheral haptic part comprising one or more haptic elements extending radially from the optical part, the optical part having a peripheral edge with a sharp edge on its posterior face. Such implantable capsular ring is prepared by chemical modification or annular body segments made of rigid material, from flexible material, or the junctions in rigid material from the flexible material.
