titleOfInvention | Compounds and methods for therapeutic intervention in preventing diabetic complications |
abstract | There is provided a method for assessing a diabetic patient's risk of experiencing a diabetes-associated pathologic condition, said method comprising measuring the ratio of 3-deoxyglucosene to 3-deoxyfructose in at least one biological sample obtained from said patient after a period of fasting, with reference to the ratio of 3DG to 3DF in a fasting individual having no clinical symptoms of diabetes, a higher ratio of 3-deoxyglucosone to 3-deoxyfructose in said diabetic patient being indicative that said diabetic patient is at higher risk of experiencing said diabetes- associated pathologic condition. |
