abstract A novel-structure electric demineralizer capable of a long-hour operation at a low voltage, comprising a cation exchange membranes and anion exchange membranes arranged between an anode and a cathode to form a plurality of chambers, characterized in that a hydrolysis chamber is define by an anode-side anion exchange membrane and a cathode-side cation exchange membrane, an anion demineralizing chamber held between anion exchange memberanes is disposed on the anode side of the hydrolysis chamber, and a cation demineralizing chamber held between cation exchange memberanes is disposed on the cathode side of the hydrolysis chamber.
