abstract |
A bacterium transformed by a catalase gene having the base sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:1 wherein the nitrogen fixation ability is potentiated by the catalase produced by the gene; preparations for leguminou s crops containing this leguminous bacterium as the active ingredient; and a method of growing leguminous crops characterized by growing leguminous crop seeds having been brought into contact with the preparations. Thus, the grow th of leguminous crops can be promoted and the yields thereof can be elevated. Moreover, it is expected that agricultural cost can be reduced and environmental pollution can be relived thereby, since the amount of nitrogen fertilizers to be applied can be lessened. |
