abstract |
It is intended to search for and identify a novel antimicrobial protein whereby the growth of pathogenic bacteria for plants (for example, Pyricularia orizae and Rhizoctonia solani causing two major diseases of rice plant) at a relatively low concentration and to clone the gene of this protein. Thus, a novel antimicrobial protein which can be obtained from a fraction obtained from a water extract of Pleurotus cornucopiae by the ammonium sulfate precipitation method, has an antimicrobial activity at least against P. orizae and R. solani, and shows the presence of an about 15 kDa component in SDS-PAGE is provided. |
