titleOfInvention Longitudinal field driven field asymmetric ion mobility filter and detection system
abstract An asymmetric field ion mobility spectrometer (10) with ionization source (1 8) for ionizing a sample media and creating ions. An ion filter (24) is disposed in the analytical gap downstre am from the ionization source for creating an asymmetric electric field to filter the ions. An ion flow generator for creating an electric field in a direction (26) transverse to the asymmetric electric field and which propels the ions through the asymmetric electric field towards a detector (32). For two-letter codes and other abbreviations, refer to the "Guid- ance Notes on Codes and Abbreviations" appearing at the begin- ning of each regular issue of the PCT Gazette.
