titleOfInvention | Cell-preservation liquid and method for preserving cells by using the liquid |
abstract | A cell-preservation liquid to which neither serum nor a culture medium is added during preservation and yet which shows an excellent preservation performance. Different from dimethyl sulfoxide having been used as an additive in preservation liquids containing serum, the above cell-preservation liquid contains an albumin mixture, which is contained in phosphate buffers employed in preserving germ cells, as the main agent optionally together with auxiliary agents such as phosphate ion, divalent metal ions or monosaccharides. Accordingly, it is unnecessary to add serum or a culture medium to the preservation liquid and thus there arises no risk of denaturing the cells under preservation or being contaminated with unknown viruses. Thus, it becomes possible to provide a preservation liquid, which contains definite components, has highly stable qualities and show an excellent performance of preserving cells, and a method of preserving cells. |
