abstract | A composition for application to a substrate is disclosed. The composition i f of a pre-determined composition and pH, includes a protective material, whic h, on contact with water, is free from any gel forming characteristics, but on the introduction of polyvalent cations, the material forms a gel that thickens. The protective material also has clathratic properties. The polyvalent cations may be present in the protective material and/or in the substrate. Methods of manufacturing the composition are disclosed, one of which includes forming a homogenous mix into a dough which is extruded and dried to tablets. The addition of enteric coatings, more than one type of tablet or composition of tablet are also disclosed. There is also disclosed a method of pH adjustment and a total soil and crop treatment regime, using th e soluble compositions. |
