Chemical compounds and compositions are disclosed which comprise peptides composed of D-enantiomers of amino acids and capable of binding to .beta.- strand structures to form .beta.-sheets, said peptides being selectively N.alpha.-substituted to prevent further .beta.-strand association. The peptides are useful for preventing .beta.-strand association. |
