titleOfInvention | Flame retardant and flame-retardant resin composition |
abstract | A flame retardant which comprises a silicon compound and can impart high flame retardancy. The flame retardant comprises an organosiloxane compound having aromatic groups which has the following average empirical formula (1), does not flow at 23~C but flows at 200~C, does not gel even upon 30-minute heating at 200~C with stirring, has a number-average molecular weight of 2,000 or higher, and dissolves at 23~C in toluene solvent in an amount of at least 100 g per L of the solvent. The flame-retardant resin composition contains the flame retardant added thereto. R1mR2nSiO(4-m-n)/2 (In the formula, R1 represents a C1-4 monovalent aliphatic hydrocarbon group and R2 represents a C6-24 monovalent aromatic hydrocarbon group, provided that R1 and R2 each may be of two or more kinds; and m and n each is a number satisfying the relationships 1.1 <= m + n <= 1.7 and 0.4 <= n / m <= 2.5.) |
