titleOfInvention Method and device for purifying aluminium by segregation
abstract The subject of the invention is a process for purifying aluminum by segregation aimed at the formation of a solid mass (or "bloom") of very high purity (i.e. greater than 3N5, i.e. containing more than 99.95% aluminum), from a mass of impure liquid aluminum called "mother liquor", and including the formation crystals by partial crystallization, periodic packing bloom and an essentially continuous remelting of the bloom by heating in growth course, a periodic measurement of the height H growing bloom and adjusting the heating power according to the measured height H, so as to obtain a rate of progression of the height which is preferably determined and decreasing in time. The invention also relates to a aluminum purification device, capable of forming a mass of aluminum solid (or "bloom") of very high purity by segregation, comprising a refractory crucible, an oven provided with heating means crucible, means for producing a partial reflow of said bloom by heating during growth, and at least one means of tamping, characterized by comprising means for measuring the height H of said solid mass being grown and means for control the heating power of said heating means according to said measured height H, so as to obtain a speed of progression of the height which is preferably determined and decreasing in time.
