abstract The invention relates to methods for producing chiral aldehydes by the enantioselective hydroformylation of prochiral substrates using a catalyst comprised of a transition metal and of a chiral ligand. The invention is characterized in that the chiral ligand is a compound of general formula (I) , whereby the dashed rings R7-R10 are optional, and one or more of rings R1-R6 or R7-R10 are substituted with one or more substituents which can be selecte d independent of one another and which are of general formula(CH2)x(CF2)yF (x = 0-5; y = 1-12) or of branched isomers thereof. The invention particularly relates to the execution of said methods in compressed (liquid or supercritical) carbon dioxide used as a reaction medium.
